PAP in Kisangani – Teacher training
PAP is the abbreviation for Pédagogie Active et Participative, in English active and participative pedagogy. This pedagogy is the focus of a teacher training programme funded by Bread for the World in the Democratic Republic of the Congo.
After evaluating the content and implementation of the training programme in Goma, Butembo and Bukavu in 2015 and 2016 (see Teaching differently in Africa), I also received an evaluation assignment from the Communauté Baptiste du Fleuve Congo in Kisangani in 2017.
Based on classroom observations and interviews, I analysed the transfer of the training contents into teaching and learning practice and identified the stumbling blocks of participative methods that were applied in an overly mechanical manner. I also studied the scientific monitoring of the programme by the University of Kisangani. The results of the evaluation are available in the form of a final report and the film »La PAP à Kisangani: démarches et défis« (in French).
