ChangeWriters at school
From April 2018 to November 2019, I conducted the evaluation study »Changing schools through successful relationship building? An exploratory study on the implementation of the ChangeWriters approach at schools« with Heike Schimkat and Susanne Dzeik for the Institute for Innovation and Counselling at the Protestant University of Applied Sciences Berlin.
While the title of the study is rather unwieldy, the content is not. ChangeWriters e.V. is committed to promoting respectful interaction in schools in Germany and focuses on relationship work in teacher training courses offered throughout the country. Through practical exercises, changes of perspective and role reflection, the participants are encouraged to better promote the competences and potentials of young people who are sometimes difficult to reach, to train their ability to work in a team and to find empowerment and relief in everyday school life by adopting an attitude that relates to the students.
I accompanied the implementation of this programme at nine schools, including two with Susanne Dzeik behind the film camera. The results focus in particular on how the ChangeWriters methods work. They are available in the form of a final report, two film clips produced together with students and teachers, and the feature-length film »ChangeWriters macht Schule« (in German).
